iam8bit Japan (operated by U/M/A/A Inc.), which markets video game music and related products based on the concept of "turning games into art," has opened pre-orders for the Japanese edition of the original soundtrack to the movie "The Super Mario Brothers Movie," which became the fastest-selling Western animation film in history, surpassing 12 billion yen in the 8 weeks after its release on April 28, and is still a huge hit today.
"The Super Mario Bros. Movie is based on the Super Mario franchise, co-produced by Illumination and Nintendo. The story and visuals are impressive, but the music, composed by Brian Tyler, who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters such as the "Fast and Furious" series and Marvel Studio productions, is also highly acclaimed. Tyler worked closely with Koji Kondo, who composed original theme music of the Super Mario series, to create a remarkable, unmissable score. In addition, there is a touching ballad sung by Jack Black (who plays Bowser), a Hollywood actor also known for his outstanding singing skills, called "Peaches," which Bowser plays on the piano in the movie. It's a delightful discovery to hear arrangements of familiar classic video game music scattered throughout the movie.
The Japanese edition CD and LP, include liner notes by Rolling Uchizawa (game writer / former Weekly Famitsu editor) plus lyrics and translation with obi strip.
. The CD and LP feature a total of 36 tracks, including orchestral music composed by Brian Tyler, which pays homage to the videogame music, and "Peaches" sung by Jack Black as Bowser. The CD will be released on August 9 and the LP on September 13.
Pre-orders for imported original editions are also available on the iam8bit Japan website, offering five items, including a limited and an open edition LPs, CD, cassette tape, and 7-inch vinyl. The 7-inch features "Peaches" on the A-side and "Mario Brothers Rap" by Ali Dee, which is not
included in the LP, CD, or cassette tape, on the flip. Delivery of the imported editions is scheduled for later in August.
